Plumtree Portfolios is for brides and grooms who need to find the right photographer for their wedding. And Plumtree Portfolios is for photographers who want to get hired to shoot the right weddings. Our goal is to help make that connection, and to make it easy for everyone.
What we’ve built so far, in short, is a website that allows brides and grooms to easily search, compare, favourite, share and contact wedding photographers for their wedding. We’ve also built an iPhone app, and are working on an iPad app too.
What we’re really building though, is a community. We’re building a community of photographers, brides and grooms, their families and friends around Plumtree Portfolios. This community is what will make it successful - successful for us, for brides and grooms, and for photographers. We’re starting that community by inviting the best wedding photographers to take part.
For brides and grooms, Plumtree Portfolio is totally free, and always will be.
For photographers, its also totally free, for now. Why? Well, simply put, our first step in growing this community is to reach a critical mass of great photographers. And charging for membership before then would limit its growth. Once we’ve got a solid base of photographers on board, and enough of a community around us that you’re getting jobs from us, then we’ll start charging. We don’t know exactly when that will be, but we’re shooting for early 2011.
